Where do we find Heaven? Do we need to find a heavenly ladder to reach Heaven? Supreme Master Ching Hai says that being in either Heaven or Hell occurs just in a flash of thought, and that in Heaven there is no greed, hatred or ignorance. When we’re in the Samsara world, it’s just like being in Heaven if we feel no suffering. Thus, we hear teachings such as “Buddha is in our heart” and “the heavenly kingdom is within us.”

If we practice well and have a good method and a great enlightened Master to teach us the Dharma, we’ll be in Heaven wherever we are. We cannot change our outward situation, but we can change ourselves, change our inner levels, and turn our inner world into Heaven. At that time, even though we’re in the Samsara world, we’re Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, enjoying the heavenly state here and having the power to help others attain liberation.
