- Summary
Regardless of opposition of family and friends, physical suffering, long distance and hardships, Naropa left the sangha , scriptures, relatives and friends to seek for the Master wholeheartedly. But he could not find any. So he decided to discard his physical body in order to search for the Master in another world. Upon cutting his wrist, he heard a voice saying, “If you can not find the enlightened Master now; how can you find one in future? If you can not find a master with your physical body, how can could you achieve it without one ?”
“One Eye” is all the qualities of the Dharma, like what we say as our wisdom eye. All the qualities of the Dharma is boiled down to one Eye, thus we say said the Dharma is hiding within the Eye. “Blindness” meant to look but see nothing; “Deafness” meant to listen but hear nothing; “Mute” meant to speak but say nothing; “doing nothing ” meanscan not do anything, like a disabled person, being active but not impetuous, very serene and natural, do without doing; all of these are the symbols of Tao.
